Hampshire Hubbies Are Experienced Adulterers, Stats Show

(PRWeb UK) June 30, 2010 -- The first two extramarital sex scandals of the new coalition government, involving neighbouring Hampshire politicians Caroline Nokes and Chris Huhne, may be a wider indication of adultery attitudes in the county, new statistics reveal.

In an independent survey conducted via OnePoll, IllicitEncounters.com (http://illicitencounters.com/), the UK's largest extramarital dating website, found Hampshire to be the fourth most adulterous county in the UK, with 11% of the county's respondents admitting to having been unfaithful to their spouse. In addition, a recent internal poll showed that 82% of Hampshire husbands using IllicitEncounters.com had previously had extramarital relationships, making them the most experienced adulterers on the site.

69% of female members from Hampshire also admitted to having cheated before joining the site (the average figure of those who had previously been unfaithful prior to sign-up was 67%).

Sara Hartley, representative for IllicitEncounters.com, says more rural communities like Hampshire are prone to cheating by circumstance; "City-dwellers are not as governed by traditional values as those in the countryside; couples living in more rural areas often feel more pressure to marry and fulfil the '2.4 kids' ideal. That pressure to pursue a 'conventional' committed relationship sometimes forces couples who may well in other situations have parted to stay together."

"We can illustrate this by looking at our Scottish members; as we have previously reported, we have a disproportionate percentage in the Western Isles, and culturally, couples there are under incredible pressure to present a perfect family unit."

IllicitEncounters.com currently has 12,400 members living in Hampshire, representing just over 1% of the county's population.
